Bun intended!

Ripple as a platform gives an opportunity for some of the most interesting use-cases. This post explores one of them.

Food. We eat. We make others eat. We dream about it. We plan for it. We plan around it. Every social situation involving people, involves food.

Home Chefs

A relatively recent trend is home chefs- offering incredible treats straight from their homes to ours. It is unique, delicious, safe, clean and affordable. However, it is also a pain-point for a home chef to keep adding themselves to food groups, and advertising over and over again. At best in most cases, they might be in a group that has a few hundred subscribers- spread over a considerable distance.

What if-

  • They don't need to be on 10-15 different foodie groups.

  • They don't need to advertise over and over owing to a deluge of posts (intermingled with replies!) drowning their own.

  • They have customer ratings displayed against their profile, as well as for each of their signature dishes, to build a trusted brand over time.

  • They can choose the reach (in meters) of each food-post, based on the area they can service.

  • They can view food trends in their locality in real time and have access to valuable data insights, to better adapt to needs of the locality.

  • They are mobile and decide to sell in a different locality, where the demand is more.

and what if- they can do all of the above without having to share personal contact information upfront or without having to know anyone in order to sell.

And what about the foodie. After all, isn't the consumer king?

The Foodie

How many groups do they need to be part of, to get a good meal. How many groups have they unsubscribed from, owing to all the replies and sub conversations that are not relevant to them. Or worse, how many limited member groups are they a silent member of. Maybe they just need a meal on the weekend. Maybe they need a meal when on the move, in a different locality. Maybe they just need a meal now!

What if-

  • They don't need to be on 3-5 different foodie groups.

  • They can turn off the food posts and turn it on only when they have a craving.

  • They can follow their favourite home chefs and turn off other food posts.

  • Their post feed is not cluttered with replies and sub-conversations of others.

  • They can search for specific dishes or cuisines.

  • They can communicate with the home chef via the app, without sharing their personal details upfront.

  • They can check out food options when on the move, in a totally new locality.

  • They can search for food options within 100-200 meters, when the craving cannot wait.

  • They can view ratings before making a decision or rate someone for the benefit of the locality.

  • They can post what they are craving for, to see if someone can cook it for them.

The Ripple Effect

Well, Ripple helps do all of the above and more- both for the sellers and the buyers. You have access to all app users in the locality. For sellers, it means all app users in your locality are your potential customers. For the buyers- it means the variety and choices you have on offer are many more. Buyers and sellers have the flexibility to work out the statistics. Ripple app provides a platform to connect users locally or while on the move.

You decide your locality reach, from as near as 50 meters to a max of 3 km radius. 3 km radius is approximately 28.3 sq. km coverage area. In a city like Bangalore with a population density of 12K plus people per sq. km this translates into 350,000 people!

So even if a fair percentage of people in a locality install and use the app, it could have a BIG impact.

That's a lot of food for thought. Download Ripple now. Get connected today!
